The Chilean artist Guillermo Lorca Garcia can be considered a self-taught painter because after studying art for a year at the university, he went to Norway to become an apprentice to the painter Odd Nerdrum at age of 22. Upon his return to Chile, he became one of the most influential young artists of figurative painting in his country. His art is severely inspired by baroque with the element of surreal art.
